Hello July! It's already looking like a busy month for the city with lego at the Museum of Gloucester, yoga at the Cathedral, live music at Llanthony, and so much more! Here are some of the highlights!


Brick History

All Month

Brick History is now open at the Museum of Gloucester. Build memories brick by brick at their captivating LEGO® exhibition, where iconic moments and figures are vividly brought to life. From Mozart to Martin Luther King Jr., from the Big Bang to DNA, and from mobile phones to moon landings, experience history on a relatable, human scale.


Independents Week

1 - 7 July

Celebrate the Independent Businesses in this Wonderful City! Independents account for around 65% of the approximately 290,000 retail outlets in the UK and are at the heart of local communities throughout the country. Getting involved with Independents Week is your chance to show some love for local retailers that you couldn't live without.


Dr Fosters Opening Offer

4 - 11 July

The much-loved Dr Foster's, located in the picturesque waterside setting of Gloucester Docks will re-open this July as a gastropub, with a fresh and re-imagined concept, which is being brought to life by A Rule of Tum. They will open with an exclusive trial period offering 50% off for social media followers and mailing list subscribers from 4th – 7th July!


Public Trust

4 - 6  July

On the weekend of the UK general election, come and take a pause for a totally unique experience all about PROMISES. Make a promise for yourself. Choose an object that means something to you and swear on it. Seal it – in ink, or wax, or blood. See it displayed loud and proud on the giant board in the middle of Kings Walk


Future Dance Fest

6 July

Get ready for sun, DJs and 100+ of the best up-N-coming dance performers. Exciting live dance performances, all set to high energy soundtracks. Young people from across Gloucester coming together to bring the energy and showcase their skills.


Morning Yoga at Gloucester Cathedral

Multiple Dates

Practice yoga and gain exclusive access to Gloucester Cathedral before it is open to the public, between 8.30am and 9.30am. Join their experienced practitioner Lucy for these sessions, which will take place in a variety of breathtaking locations in Gloucester Cathedral. Expect to marvel at the Medieval Cloister, see the sun rise over the tower in the serene Garth garden and more! Orchard St Food & Craft Market

6 - 7 July

Located at the stunning Gloucester Quays, the market offers a great mix of delicious, locally sourced food and drink, artisan arts and crafts, jewellery, homeware, plants and seasonal goods, plus amazing streetfood and bars. Come along, enjoy great food and drink, soak up the atmosphere of market day and meet the friendly, dedicated, and enthusiastic producers.


Second Hand Summer

8 July - 16 August

Everyone loves a bargain and this summer there's more reason than ever to hunt some out in Gloucester's own treasure trove of charity shops. Pre-loved clothes, brilliantly retro homewares and vintage finds – there's something extra special about rooting them out for a steal, while supporting worthwhile causes along the way. And now there's more incentive than ever to visit the city centre's amazing network of charity outlets and nose through all they have to offer, by taking part in the Second Hand Summer Challenge.


Shake It Up: The Improvised Shakespeare Show

14 July

Shakespeare hasn't written anything new for an age, so they thought they would give him a hand… At Blackfriars Priory, using your audience suggestions and their overactive imaginations, they create a brand-new Shakespeare play live on stage, complete with live music, songs and plenty of laughs.


Gloucester Festival of Archaeology

15 - 27 July

Through a series of talks in amazing venues like the Guildhall, Gloucester Cathedral and The Folk of Gloucester, they will be shining a light on the amazing archaeology that has been undertaken in the city and exploring what it means for the understanding of the past.


Kate Rusby: Live at Llanthony

19 July

Gloucester Guildhall proudly presents Mercury Prize winning folk singer, Kate Rusby. Forever proud to call herself a folk singer, Kate Rusby's vocals never fail to connect the heart of a song to that of her audience. Come on down for festival vibes, incredible music, great beer and food, all in an unforgettable setting. The event has an intimate festival feel, promising powerful performances in one of Gloucester's finest historic sites.


The Staves: Live at Llanthony

20 July

Gloucester Guildhall proudly presents The Staves in a unique outdoor gig at Llanthony Secunda Priory. The Priory's beautiful gardens and waterside setting in the heart of Gloucester's quayside make for a truly perfect arena for the band's signature sound.Taking a cue from youthful folk revivalists like Laura Marling, Mountain Man, and the Pierces, Watford, England's the Staves blend the wistful cadences of classic British folk with breezy, Laurel Canyon-era pop.


Gloucester Quays Food Festival

20 - 21 July 

The most popular food festival in the Southwest is back to cook up a storm at the historic docks. If you love cooking or simply watching talented TV chefs show you how it's done – this is a 'must save' date for your diary! Hosted on both days by chef, TV presenter and author, Chris Bavin in an open-air Cookery Theatre in Mariners Square.


Blackfriars Priory Guided Tours

21 July - 25 August

Book onto a fascinating tour of Blackfriars Priory, guided by a Civic Trust tour guide. Learn about the site's rich history as you move through the various rooms, from the towering North Range, originally a 13th Century Dominican church, to the ancient Scriptorium. This fascinating building is believed by historians to be the oldest standing purpose-built library in Northern Europe and is of international significance.


Corazón by Circolombia

24 - 26 July

A fun-filled circus concert, packed with breathless feats, gravity defying performance and infectious music.The internationally renowned Circolombia bring Latin heart to Gloucester Guildhall. With nerves of steel, music from the soul and tons of Colombian spirit. Circolombia welcomes you into their house, their home and their heart.
