Gloucester is home to a range of markets popular with locals and visitors alike. From the weekly farmers market featuring produce grown in the county to the Eastgate Indoor Market where you can buy food and all of your household essentials. In the lead up to Christmas, shoppers from around the country flock to Gloucester Docks for the South West’s largest free Christmas market and there’s even one of the region’s best vegan fairs.  

Gloucester Farmers Market  

Held every Friday at The Cross in the heart of the city centre. You’ll find a superb range of locally grown and organic fruit and veg; and farm fresh meat, poultry and game. There are two bakeries where you can buy cakes, pastries and speciality bread; and artisan producers selling locally made cheese and preserves. If you’re looking for lunch on the go, stop by one of the popular street food vendors serving falafel, Thai curries and Caribbean specialities. 

Eastgate Indoor Market 

An eclectic mix of stalls, the Eastgate Indoor Market is the place to go for a butcher, fishmonger, Mediterranean olives and spices, confectionery, tailor, record stall, toys, household essentials and much more. The Market Café is a popular stop for breakfasts and lunches too. 

Orchard Street Food & Craft Market 

On the first weekend of each month outside Gloucester Quays, you’ll find the very finest local food, drink, art, design, vintage and modern craft from businesses local to the South West. An absolute must for street food afficionados.  

Gloucester Quays Victorian Market 

Soak up the festive atmosphere this November (TBC) at the biggest free to enter Christmas market in the South West! Experience more than 150 stalls and producers selling a wide range of local food, drink, unique gifts, jewellery, accessories and lots more, all set against the backdrop of Gloucester Quays and the historic Victorian dockside.  

Gloucester Vegan Christmas Market 

Taking place at Blackfriars on 5 December (TBC) the market is a festive day out and shopping experience for vegans, vegetarians, and anyone who is curious about vegan food or products. Fast becoming a fixture in Gloucester, the market also sells locally produced or handmade Christmas gifts, eco-friendly clothing and much more.
