Hello August! It looks like we are finally getting some warm weather and what a busy month for it with one of Gloucester's best events returning! Here are some of the highlights!
Gloucester Goes Retro
24 August
One of the highlights of the city’s vibrant festival calendar, Gloucester Goes Retro features over 500 classic vehicles filling the historic Gate Streets and Gloucester Docks. You will find famous car brands from yesteryear including Aston Martin, Jensen, Bentley, Triumph, Morris and Alvis to name just a few. For music and dance enthusiasts, visit the Mariners Square Stage where you'll be serenaded by a host of retro acts and get your boogie on with swing dancing. Kings Square will be hosting vintage clothes and antique stalls, a Motown funk-loving disco and a 7hr Scaletrix competition hosted by The Commentators.

Brick History
Open Until 6 October
Build memories brick by brick at the Museum of Gloucester's captivating LEGO® exhibition, where iconic moments and figures are vividly brought to life. From Mozart to Martin Luther King Jr., from the Big Bang to DNA, and from mobile phones to moon landings, experience history on a relatable, human scale.
Gloucester Open 2024

Throughout August 2024, Gloucester Open will be showcasing the work of local artists in their own studios and in selected venues throughout the city. Gloucester Open is organised by Gloucester Contemporary Artists and supported by Together Gloucester.
Chill on the Green
Every Friday
Watch the world go by on the Cathedral Green during these summer afternoon sessions every Friday afternoon from 19 July to 30 August between 12noon - 4pm. Expect live acoustic music, street food and a relaxing atmosphere.
Walk the Labyrinth

Follow in the footsteps of medieval pilgrims and join a 1,000 year-long tradition.The Labyrinth is returning to Gloucester Cathedral this summer, and you're invited to walk it. It will be in the Nave for you to explore for as long or as little as you like during normal Cathedral opening hours.

Submergence
07 August - 31 August
Submergence Gloucester is a unique and welcoming light and sound event for all the family, creating space for exploration, play and connection. After being presented at Gloucester Cathedral in 2020, the artwork is back and will be displayed in The Eastgate Shopping Centre between 07 - 31 August (Tuesdays - Saturdays). Supported by Arts Council England, Gloucester BID and The University of Plymouth, there will also be a series of specialist workshops aimed at families and children with SEN, play sessions, and special events involving music and movement as part of the programme.
K & M Goes Retro
24 August
Iconic 124 year old schooner, Kathleen & May, the last British built wooden hull, three masted top-sail schooner left afloat in the world is open to the public on Saturday, 24 August from 11am till 5pm. Step aboard for self-guided tours with storyboards on the top deck, take a seat in the Captain's Cabin and imagine life at sea, try out the Crew Bunks for size, step into the cargo hold, browse through her cargo records and listen to her stories of past, present and plans for her future.
Gloucester Mind Body Spirit Show
31 August
Feeling off colour and not sure why? Tired, anxious, stressed? Why not come down to the Gloucester Mind Body Spirit Show and see if you can find out what's going on with you. The Gloucester Mind Body Spirit Show is bigger and better than ever. The show has been moved back to its original venue - Gloucester Guildhall. At this event, you can speak to one of our holistic, spiritual or self-help experts. Have a massage, some Reiki or reflexology.
