Children’s Art Week this year runs from Monday the 28th of June, until Sunday the 18th of July, so actually it is a bit more than a week, but there are so many opportunities to get creative that this is a good thing!
Children’s Art Week is a fantastic opportunity to encourage families, children, young people, and schools to take part in fun, creative activities that they might not have tried before.
In 2019 more than 17,000 children, young people and adults took part in events in venues across the UK. Organisers reported that 62% of participants were first-time visitors to their venue and 32% of participants were audiences who were completely new to the arts.
Competition Time
In celebration of this and of course, all things arty and crafty, Visit Gloucester are running a competition – we want you to have a think about what Gloucester means to you, what do you love about Gloucester? Maybe it is one of the many venues and attractions, maybe it is shopping, or maybe it is visiting Great Aunt Mary who has lived in the City for 100 years!
We want you to take whatever it is that means something to you about our wonderful City and create it into a masterpiece. You could paint, draw, sculpt, sew… the options are endless, and we welcome all mediums!
Split into four age categories, yes, we thought why limit it to just kids, plenty of us are still young at art and still love a bit of glitter and glue, well maybe less so on the glitter front, you will be finding it everywhere, for years!!
The entries will be judged in the following age groups:
0-6 years
7 – 11 years
12-16 years
The young at heart – 16+ years
Entries can be photographed and emailed to us at visitgloucester@gloucester.gov.uk, or you can take your creation to one of our drop off points, either the Cathedral or the Tourist Information Centre, located in the Museum of Gloucester.
Prizes!
There will be prizes for the winner of each category, and a prize for the overall winner, plus you might see your artwork on display in the City.
For all the details about the event please visit the Visit Gloucester website
We cannot wait to see your creations! #glosgetsarty
