With the holidays over, get outdoors, brush away the cobwebs, and beat the January Blues in Gloucester.
A YouGov poll in 2019 found that the most popular New Year’s resolution is to exercise more. If this resolution sounds familar to you, why not spend some time exercising outdoors, and enjoy the many benefits of fresh air. Gloucester is lucky enough to be home to many green spaces, so there are lots of places for you to choose from, including Robinswood Hill Country Park, Alney Island Nature Reserve, and Barnwood Park and Aboretum.
If you're able to travel a bit further from the city, Gloucester has some incredible countryside walks nearby, where you can enjoy spectacular valley views, as well as a mixture of woodlands and meadows.
As well as green spaces, spending time around water is another way to get outdoors, and has been found to be psychologically restorative, inducing positive moods, and reducing negative moods and stress (read more here). With Gloucester being the UK’s most inland port, there are plenty of places you can go to enjoy the water. Spend some time wandering around Gloucester Docks, or walk along the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal.
