Although at times we as a City, a nation and the world, were still not quite back to our old ways, the City of Gloucester has continued to attract some amazing new businesses and ventures. From large multi-national chains through to small independents - here's a look at who we welcomed to our City in 2021.

In Warehouse 4, Gloucester Brewery opened Gloucester's first self-tap room, where you can pour your own beer, straight from the keg! Also offering soft drinks and other alternatives if beer is not your tipple, and at weekends you can often hear live music or enjoy a comedian or two - definitely worth a visit!

Not long opened, Jamaica Blue arrived on Eastgate Street, a business that operates on two simple beliefs, sourcing the very best coffee, and serving only the finest, freshest food from their kitchen. Offering a delicious menu full of classics, some with a twist, it is definitely worth popping in for breakfast or lunch!

On the food front, we have had many other new eateries join the wealth of yummy choices in the City, these include Hi Light Cafe on Eastgate Street, Viet Yummy and RFC (Fried Chicken) both located on Westgate Street and of course Tim Horton's.

Although we are all planning on kick starting our new year in a healthy way, there is nothing wrong with the odd treat every now and again, and we certainly aren't short of choice here in the City!

When it comes to retail, we have seen a huge variety of differing shopping venues arrive, from high end brands such as Dune within Gloucester Quays, through to unique independents like Cosmic Tree on Westgate Street, and Vinyl Vital Signs in Eastgate Shopping Centre.

L&S Lifestyle have secured themselves on College Street, showcasing a gorgeous array of unique lighting items, and beautiful home style necessities, definitely worth a browse. We have also seen the arrival of Raging Bull, House of Tweed and the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity Shop in Eastgate Shopping Centre. We will be heading to the City in January for sure, especially with the sales on!!

Both men and women have a couple more choices of where to get their hair styled, perfect timing for Christmas and New Year ...

We have not tried either yet, but both are definitely on our team's to do list in the New Year!

Finally, we wanted to give a shout out to two community and cultural organisations, JOLT and The Music Works.

2021 saw JOLT open up their hot desking spaces, with no need to book, excellent Wi-Fi and of course coffee, we highly recommend spending a work or study day here for a change of scenery.

The Music Works' mission is to transform young lives through music, designed for young people, by young people. They are specialist in helping young people in challenging circumstances to reach their full potential, in learning, life and music.

There really was a lot of exciting change in the City in 2021,  and with the opening of the Food Dock and Kings Square, we've got a lot more to look forward to in 2022 - we hope to see you here!
