When is Shrove Tuesday 2022?

With Shrove Tuesday being celebrated exactly 47 days before easter to mark the start of the holiday, pancake day will fall on March 1st this year.

The word ‘pancake’ first appeared in English in the 15th century although, Ancient Greeks and Romans used to make a dish called Alita Dolcia or “another sweet” with wheat flour, olive oil, honey, and curdled milk!

If you want to avoid washing up and pancake covered ceilings this year keep on reading to find out where you can celebrate pancake day in Gloucester.
