Ten things to do on a Rainy Autumnal Day in Gloucester
I don’t know about you, but the Visit Gloucester Team are definitely sporting a few extra layers this week, out with the sandals and in with our winter boots!
We have I feel, been very lucky with the weather for much of the summer, even before and beyond actually, but there is a definite chill to the air today, and with rain forecast, we thought we'd highlight a few ideas of things to do, on a wet and chilly autumnal day in Gloucester.
Museum of Gloucester – Lego Workshops
Following on from the sell-out success of free tickets for Historic Gloucester in LEGO® at the Fok Museum, these incredible models will be on display at the Museum of Gloucester from Saturday 22 to Sunday 30 October.
Not only that, on the 30 October, there are 4 one hour building workshops being held, these are run by BrickBox, find out more HERE.

Gloucester Guildhall
Did you know that our wonderful Guildhall has been undergoing a huge renovation project in the last few months?
The Guildhall, in all its new finery opened earlier this month and it is definitely worth a visit, not only to check out the spangly new interior, but also to enjoy live music, films and its lovely café.
Check out what’s coming up HERE, and if learning about Serial Killers is a passion of yours, definitely worth booking tickets.
Ninja Warrior
Similar to the hugely successful TV program, Ninja Warrior Gloucester is not for the faint hearted! Well, actually, you can challenge yourself as much or as little as you want! There is no way better to warm up, and get hot and sweaty on a rainy day, than throwing yourself over obstacles, swinging across ropes and bars, and attempting the wall!
If spectating is more your thing, whilst you watch your friends and family switch personas into athletic ninjas, then there is a lovely café with viewing area on the mezzanine level.
Gloucester Brewery
Why not pop into Gloucester Brewery on a wet day, and sample some of their award winning craft ales.
Founded on a love for beer, which is clear from the taste, you can book yourself on a tour to see the brewing process from start to finish, or you can simply grab a table in Warehouse 4 and Tap Room, to serve yourself some fine ales straight from the tap.

Shopping in Gloucester Quays and our Independents
There is never a better excuse to shop than in the run up to Christmas, and whilst most of us are watching our pennies more than ever, there are some really great bargains and goodies to be found in the City.
With lots of independent shops, selling all manner of unique, beautiful, and often locally sourced gifts, and now being the time to support our high streets more than ever, you'll find something for every one. We also of course have Gloucester Quays Retail Uutlet, with huge discounts on well known brands, and completely undercover. But, if you are not quite ready to start your Christmas Shopping, then why not have a browse, and then write your list to Father Christmas!
A Masterclass in Gin or Whisky at Brewhouse Kitchen
You will need to book in advance, but check the weather forecast, and if the weather man says it's raining, grab some friends and book into the Brewhouse Kitchen for a Gin or Whisky Masterclass!
You may think you know your Gin from your, um Gin, or which Malt you prefer, but you will be enlightened as to the flavours found within these delicious beverages! You can even round off your tasting with dinner from their sumptuous menu.

Tour of the Folk Museum
If you are a regular visitor to the City, or if you have been recently, you may have noticed something a bit different on Westgate Street! The wonderful Folk Museum has had a facelift, and deservedly so, as one of our Cities' iconic and historic buildings.
And this autumn you can book on to a Tour of the Folk which has been closed for several years. The floor boards still squeak, and history reeks from every crevice, your tour guide may even be in costume ... with 600 years of history to explore, we would highly recommend!

Coffee Break
There are a plethora of Cafes and coffee shops in the City, each with their own vibe and atmosphere. Some are more hustle and bustle where you can watch the world go by over the perfect Flat White, whilst others are more suited to a leisurely brew, perfect for settling down to avoid the elements with a good book.
From independents through to chains, you can pop in or takeaway, sit down for a natter, or keep the kids quiet for five minutes with a cookie or a cake – lots of seasonal flavours to warm your cockles too!
Trapped Escape Rooms
If you fancy yourself as a bit of a detective, if you like problem solving, or if you are just simply competitive, then a session at Trapped Escape Rooms is the place for you to escape the drizzle!
With up to 6 in a team, and different scenarios to choose, get your sleuth on to solve the clues and try to escape within the time. That which seems obvious, is not always the case!

Cathedral Tour
If the heavens continue to remain open, then why not take a peek at the Access 'nearly all area' Tours of Gloucester Cathedral. This October you can book onto exclusive, behind the scenes tours, and have the chance to look at the spaces and areas, that are not usually open to visitors.
You can climb up to the Organ Loft, see the rooms where Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn stayed in 1535, or explore the candlelit Crypt, you can even walk through the very door that featured as the Gryffindor Common Room in the Harry Potter Films.
