Happy New Year Gloucester! 

Following the holiday season, January can start to feel quite long! Here are some great ways to start the New Year here in Gloucester!


Cedric Titcombe Exhibit

Until 21 January

A major exhibition of work by one of Gloucester's most illustrious artists is on display at The Folk of Gloucester. The exhibition will run Thursdays to Saturdays until 21st January 2023, 10am - 4pm. Most of the work will be for sale.

 


Behind the Scenes Tour of the Museum of Gloucester

14 January

On January 14, join the Museum of Gloucester for a behind the scenes tour!
Your friendly and knowledgeable guide will show you many highlights in the collections including dinosaur fossils, a sword belonging to King Richard III and forgotten Roman remains.

 


Behind the Scenes Tour of the Folk of Gloucester

26, 27, 28 January

Guided Tours are now available and tell the stories of the buildings themselves and the people who owned them or worked or lived in them during the last 600 years. Find out why someone was hiding in the loft of the coal house, or who received special dispensation from the Privy council in the sixteenth century!

 


Discovery Sessions at the Museum of Gloucester

21 January

Enjoy a friendly chat with Museum experts on a range of fascinating historical topics relevant to the Collections at the Museum of Gloucester.

 


Cajun and Zydeco Festival 2023 

27 to 29 January

Europe’s longest running Cajun & Zydeco festival is back for its 29th year. Featuring live performances from The Cajun & Creole Express, Chanky Chank, Cajun Roosters UK, The Barcelo Brothers, The Rosellys and many more!

 


The RPS International Photography Exhibiton | IPE 163

 Opens 28 January

Over 8,000 images were entered by 3,944 photographers from 114 countries, making this a record-breaking year for the most countries engaged with in an open call to the competition. A total of 105 works by 60 photographers will be on display in the Museum of Gloucester from 28 January until 4 June 2023!

 


Gloucester Guildhall

The recently refurbished Gloucester Guildhall has some great events and film showings taking place throughout the month. There are multiple live music events such as The Electrik Live Orchestra, Kris Barras Band, and the Gloucester Cajun & Zydeco Festival 2023! There are some great family friendly film options such as Matilda The Musical and Strange World showing throughout the month as well as some that a perfect for a night out with friends, including Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Empire of Light.
