Get Fuelled for the Day
A day at the races is a busy day, and your step count is likely to rocket, make sure you get yourself energised for the day ahead by starting off with breakfast from one of Gloucester’s many delicious eateries.
If you are up early and have time for a leisurely breakfast, why not grab a Full English or enjoy a leisurely coffee at Jamaica Blue or Bake & Brew, both serving delicious brews and a full homemade breakfast menu, with dishes such as Greek Yogurt and Granola, or breakfast muffins, through to Full English and Veggie Breakfasts!
If you are looking to grab some breakfast en route, On-Toast, the legendary toasted sandwich eatery, is well worth a visit, before heading to the railway station, for your ten-minute journey to Cheltenham. They serve a huge variety of Toasted Sandwiches, and if you have a sweeter tooth, you can sample one of their famous Mars Bar Toasties!
The City offers so many options for on the breakfast options, a quick stroll around both the gate streets and the docks, and you will be spoilt for choice!
Getting There
Gloucester has both a train and bus station, so using public transport to get to the Races, will definitely ease stress levels.

After a Busy Day
At the end of a no doubt fantastic but tiring day, the last thing you will want to do is think about cooking, so why not plan your evening, firstly by booking a delicious meal in Gloucester.
There is almost every cuisine and vibe to choose from, if you are looking for stylish, why not try Settebello, Spago or Portivo Lounge?
For something slightly more unique, and pretty cool, head to Greek on the Docks, The Tiger's Eye, or the Bangkok Canteen.
Once you have wined and dined, if you still have the energy left, or are celebrating a win or two, we highly recommend heading over to Gloucester Brewery’s Warehouse 4 Bar & Tap Room. This is Gloucester’s first self-serve bar, where you pour your beer of choice straight from the keg! And for those that prefer cocktails and gin, they have an extensive menu of these too!
Extend your Stay
If you have taken a few days to enjoy the races, why not try a new experience or two in the City and surrounding area?
Perhaps take a stroll down Westgate Street and visit the iconic Gloucester Cathedral, or head to Gloucester Prison and book onto one of their fascinating tours. If you still have plenty of energy, head over to Ninja Warrior and try your hand at the mighty wall, or pop across to Gloucester Ski & Snowboard Centre and whizz down the slope.
