The Gloucester Docks comes alive at Christmas and at the heart of it is the National Waterways Museum Gloucester. The popular Stories with Santa event is happening on Saturdays in December and you can also enjoy an elf trail in the galleries. The cafe is open to all and is a great place to enjoy delicious cakes and festive drinks next the the Gloucester Quays Ice rink. Found within the City of Gloucester is an internationally important collection of treasures of over 750,000 objects. The Museum of Gloucester tells the story of the city’s origins as a Roman settlement and its subsequent development through the Dark Ages and Medieval period. This fine Victorian building also has a significant collection of art including paintings by Richard Wilson, Thomas Gainsborough, John Atkinson Grimshaw and Thomas Dibdin.

The Folk of Gloucester is a beautiful and historically significant set of 16th century Tudor buildings situated in the heart of Gloucester. Once a museum, now a thriving Heritage Community centre our incredible team of staff and volunteers aim to celebrate and share the unique cultural heritage of Gloucester through showcasing its diverse traditions, arts, crafts, artefacts and people. The Boat Cafe is a unique community hub cafe located in the heart of Gloucester at the Docks. Built in Wakefield in 1983, it later became an abandoned tour boat in Leeds, and has now been restored and shaped to create a unique, ambient and light space where customers can enjoy the Gloucester City canal vibe. Situated on the Barge Arm in Gloucester Docks, customers have a view of Orchard Square and the historical Llanthony warehouse. Provideing exceptional coffee from Fairtrade suppliers, hand-made cakes from a home bakery in the Cotswolds, and freshly made food. We have a large range of body jewellery and sterling silver jewellery, and sell incense sticks, cones, and burners. We have a studio where we offer body piercings of all kinds and semi-permanent make up services. We opened in 2016 and offer a friendly and professional service to our customers, with unique and unusual products. The Cavern is a community coffee shop and safe space, fully inclusive with a heart to reach, engage and support vulnerable communities. This includes those with mental health struggles, learning disabilities, the homeless community and those struggling with addictions. We build relationships to enable us to signpost to more specialist support, whilst providing support and a safe space. We are a gaming and live music venue, with events such as open mic nights, and gaming tournaments. Finally, food is also at the heart of our community, with affordable pricing we make our drinks and food accessible to all!
