Cathedral Christmas at Night Experience

Experience the festive charm of Gloucester Cathedral after dark at these special evening events. Enjoy live performances from Cathedral musicians and friends, with a glass of mulled wine or hot chocolate from The Monk's Kitchen, which will be open throughout the evening.


Meet St Nicholas

Discover the origins of Father Christmas and meet St Nicholas himself. Each child will receive an age appropriate book gift. Families will also have the chance to take part in Christmas crafts and a scratch Nativity. These activities are suitable for all ages and there is no booking required. Simply turn up any time between 10am and 4pm and enjoy!


Once Upon A Star: The Christmas Story

Discover the story of the very first Christmas on this exciting family trail! As you journey towards the star, see who you can find along the way and uncover the story of that holy night. Pick up your free trail map from the Welcome Desk during Cathedral opening hours. Entry to the Cathedral is by voluntary donation.


Nativi-tea at The Monk’s Kitchen

This Christmas, the Monk’s Kitchen are putting a festive spin on their much-loved Afternoon Tea – expect mouth-watering homemade mince pies, fudge and mulled wine, alongside the all-important scones with jam and clotted cream and sandwiches. What’s not to love?


Family Crib Services

Their Family Crib Services are among the most loved events in their calendar—perfect for families of all ages! Enjoy beautiful music, traditional readings, and plenty of festive cheer, all within the stunning surroundings of the Cathedral.


Midnight Mass

All are welcome to join the Cathedral for this atmospheric service to mark the start of Christmas Day, held in the beautifully decorated Nave. The beautiful music accompanying this service will be sung by the Cathedral Youth Choir. No tickets are required to attend this service, but seating will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
