Moomins 80: Moomins ABC

As part of the Moomin 80 programme in Gloucester, we invite you and your family into a magical world inspired by Moomins this Spring and Summer. Settle down for an hour to explore the magic world of the Moomins with your family and immerse yourself in the adventures of Moominmamma, Sniff, Stinky, Little My, Hodgkins, Snuffkin and Snorkmaiden!

In this incredible interactive exhibition, brought to Museum of Gloucester by the award-winning Bakehouse Factory, you can go on an amazing adventure centred on Tove Jansson's iconic stories.


An Egg-cellent Easter Trail

All Month

Explore light and new life in this egg-cellent Easter trail at Gloucester Cathedral this April. Crack the clues and explore the Cathedral in this exciting new family trail and discover something new about Gloucester Cathedral! No booking is required and the trail is free to take part in!


Peat & Diesel

Peat & Diesel - Light my Byre, at Gloucester Guildhall, takes you on a journey to the heart of the Western Isles, where #peatlemania was born. You might have time for a brandy in the 'Airidh' but don't miss your ride in Calum Dan's Transit Van, they ain't stopping till they lose the water!


Frolics at the Friars Comedy Night

04 April

Join Blackfriars Priory for their first ever 'Frolics at the 'Friars' Comedy Night. Local award winning Stand Up, Nik Hill, hosts this top night of comedy with tales from the locality before introducing 2 great acts from the UK circuit. 


The Bluetones

04 April

The Bluetones first came to prominence in 1995, when their debut release 'Are You Blue Or Are You Blind' broke into the Top 40. The single proved to be the launching pad for a run that saw 14 hit singles and 6 albums follow on from it. From there on, the band, made up of brothers Mark & Scott Morriss alongside Adam Devlin and Eds Chesters, enjoyed considerable UK and Ireland successes, extending out across into Europe and Japan, before taking a hiatus in 2011 that lasted for 4 years. Since then they have re-established themselves as one of the UK's most consistently entertaining live acts, regularly touring their extensive catalogue to their army of devoted fans.

Wayward Sons

10 April

The Sons are back! After the hiatus that followed their triumphant opening of the main stage at Download Festival '22, the band returned to the live arena where they played a handful of selected dates in the UK which saw packed houses up and down the country. And they are coming to Gloucester Guildhall on the 10 April!

19 April

Get Egg-cited for Basket Building! Join the Museum of Gloucester for their Family Easter Basket Creations Crafting Workshop, a relaxed yet hands-on session where you and your family can create unique, eco-friendly Easter baskets using cardboard. This is a wonderful opportunity to explore creative techniques and enjoy a shared crafting experience.


Tudor Day: At Home With Henry VIII

19 April

To celebrate the Tudor origins of the unique building, the Folk of Gloucester is going back in time for one day and inviting everyone to meet the Tudors! Greet King Henry VIII and his royal court, marvel at demonstrations of historic crafting techniques, and listen to live Tudor music drifting through the building from local musicians. Try on historical costumes and have a go at traditional games of the time. Enjoy a day of historical reenactment, music, workshops, stalls and demonstrations.


Gloucester History Festival Spring Weekend

25 - 27 April

The Spring Weekend is back with a packed programme of 20 mouth-watering events for history-lovers of all ages taking place in the glorious surroundings of Gloucester’s medieval Blackfriars Priory.

Speakers include historian Ian Mortimer uncovering the fake death of Edward II at Berkeley Castle and Max Adams exploring the life and times of Anglo-Saxon King Offa, former Deputy Prime Minister Michael Heseltine lifts the lid on 50 years in politics, Laurence Llewelyn Bowen celebrates the history of design, Hallie Rubenhold debates women and crime  and top archaeologist and BBC Coast presenter Mark Horton reveals a newly-discovered Viking Fort by the River Severn!

New this year the Spring Weekend is live-streamed so you can enjoy events at home or in person in Gloucester.
