About
Whatever the reason for your visit, you will be warmly welcomed to Gloucester Cathedral
Whether you are coming to discover nearly 1000 years of history or to worship in this beautiful building, we hope that your experience is enjoyable and special.
A spectacular and historic building, Gloucester Cathedral is an extraordinary setting for major services, concerts and art installations, yet also a place for private prayer and reflection. The Cathedral is visited by hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. Many come as tourists or to worship, while others attend some of the many events taking place here.
The Cathedral is open 365 days a year, but please check our website for latest opening times. We ask that visitors make a donation upon entrance to the Cathedral. Our suggestion donation is £5.00 per adult visitor. It costs over £6,000 each day keep the Cathedral open. We don't receive any government or regular central church funding so rely on the generosity of our visitors to help look after the building.
Some of the things your donations go towards:
Our onsite Stone Masons and the conservation of the building
Our Education and Outreach programme
Our world class choral music
Our Breakfast Club and work with the homeless of Gloucester
