About

Winchcombe is an attractive market town in the Cotswolds with a long history. Located just 8 miles, approximately 20 minutes from Cheltenham town centre by car. The market place, boutique stores, and centre streets are well worth a wander. Relax with a meal and drink in a timbered inn or enjoy afternoon tea in one of the many quaint coffee shops.

Soak up the scenery with a walk or cycle around this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or a stroll alongside the River Isbourne. Explore the countryside surrounding Winchcombe by following a Gateway Towns walking or cycling route. Created by the Cotswolds National Landscape and local communities you’ll discover hidden corners, epic views, historic sites, and a rich diversity of wildlife.

In addition to a fascinating history and centuries-old architecture to discover and explore the village has a great range of Cotswolds attractions nearby. The jewel in Winchcombe’s crown is the 1000-year-old Sudeley Castle and Gardens, once home to the last, and surviving wife of Henry VIII, Queen Katherine Parr. Its huge wooden adventure playground is great for children and the stunning estate with its duck pond and peaceful parkland, is criss-crossed by public footpaths.

Just a few minutes’ drive from the town you’ll find National Trust manor houses and gardens, farm and wildlife parks, steam trains and much more including Cotswold Lavender, Hayles Fruit Farm, Stanway House and Fountain, Stanway Water Mill, Cotswold Farm Park, Prescott Hill Climb, Hailes Abbey and Snowshill Manor.
